Fourth grade policies
Fourth Grade Expectations
Come to school and class prepared.
Follow directions the first time given.
Respect the rights and property of others.
Use time wisely and do your best work.
Good behavior is expected and valued.
Late Work
All work assigned to a student is by definition required. The work provides practice of a skill, application of the skill and/or assessment information for the child and teacher. It is not an option for a student to not complete and submit assigned work. Incomplete assignments or assignments not submitted by due date will result in students using their own time to complete. If a student demonstrates a pattern of not completing work as assigned, parents will be notified. Should the pattern continue, motivators such as loss of privileges or meeting to strategize with administrators will be applied.
Grades
Grades are based on a combination of tests, participation, class work, homework, group work, and projects. Any student who scores below a 70 on an assignment will be required to make corrections to bring the grade up to a 70. All grades above 70 will remain as is, until the end of the quarter when students will be given an optional extra credit assignment to replace their lowest grade.
Communications
Please check my class website frequently for assignments, announcements, and teacher communication.
Homework
Homework may consist of material across all subjects including unfinished class work, assigned homework, and studying for tests. No homework should require parent help; it is work the students are able to and should complete independently. Per campus policy, when homework is assigned it should not exceed a maximum of 50 minutes. Homework will not be assigned for completion on weekends or No Homework Nights. Per policy, please let me know if it is taking longer than the expected time. This is important assessment information and will advise me if accommodations are necessary.
Makeup Work / Absences
For every day your child was absent, 2 days will be given to complete any and all make-up work.
Lunch Visits
Please feel free to join us for lunch! We are in the cafeteria from 11:45-12:10! You are welcome to sit with your child at their class table. You are more than welcome to bring your child a special lunch, but please do not bring food for any other children.
